DeFi Kingdoms rose to popularity because of its innovative combination of yield farming and gamification features. Users can enjoy yields, now on multiple chains following their successful Crystalvale expansion on the Avalanche network, all while experiencing a fun, relaxing, medieval-themed UI with a multitude of game features that can enhance farming rewards.
Following the Harmony bridge hack, an exploit that resulted in multiple key harmony tokens depegging, the DeFi kingdoms team has decided to move its original protocol off of Harmony and onto the Klaytn network.
Read our notes below to learn about recent game updates, how to bridge assets off of harmony, and what to expect on the new Klaytn network DeFi Kingdoms chain, Serendale 2.0.
General Updates
Team member Frisky Fox:
● The vote for Serendale 2.0 tokenomics was held and passed.
● The team’s been busy with what has to happen regarding Serendale 2.0.
● The plan is to move Serendale to the Klaytn chain, which will be called Serendale 2.0 for the interim period.
● Hoping to have an orderly exit with the smallest amount of disruption possible.
● Some things aren’t yet up to feature and might take a bit longer to be turned off on Serendale, so when it is turned off on Serendale there will be an option to bridge over to Crystalvale to be able to play the game without disruptions.
● Still hashing out tokenomics, planning to share what will be turned off in the upcoming week’s AMA.
● Creating a timeline/infographic for the community to see what is to be expected in the upcoming weeks regarding migration.
● The team has been meeting with members on the Klaytn team to coordinate efforts and is happy with the level of support from them.
Dreamer:
● Efforts are progressing, getting exposed to many other projects that are either on, or planning to be on Klaytn along with DeFi Kingdoms (DFK).
● Potential growth for DFK is the gamified or visualized view of what is on the DFK chain or Avalanche subnet.
● Trying to collaborate with smaller projects on Klaytn to make sure to have a positive impact on all the projects on the chain.
● The team is currently working with a move-to-earn project.
Beetle Dude:
● Gardening has additional features that are coming along with the multi-quest.
● There are a lot of things going into testing to make sure everything’s working well.
● Duels and Interface were turned off on September 8th, smart contracts won’t allow any new duels to be started.
● Duels will be moving to Crystalvale, and season one will start officially on the DFK chain.
● In Gardening quests, pet options are being considered, including pet hatching, pet sales, and pet bridging.
SecondBestDad:
● Large Tavern update with another NPC drop coming soon.
● Working on the Dark Summoning Chamber and the Dark Summoner.
PieFace:
● Token2049 is happening at the end of September in Singapore and there will be a small DFK presence at the Klaytn booth with some merchandise.
● Working with Klaytn marketing team on Serendale 2.0 for a smooth experience for both Klaytn and DFK users.
Magnus Ironroot:
● The hard fork was completed successfully by validators and switched over seamlessly without a disrupting network event, which now gives the team the ability to change network fees.
● Polishing up gardening and duel reward, quest fund which will bring everything up to V2 version of quest core. V1 version will be deprecated going forward.
● Layer Zero has announced the launch of a block explorer that can be used to check the status of transactions which will be integrated into the front end.
Sun Bear:
● Planning on activating our adjuster and archivist features next week so when users come into the castle they’ll be able to click on the gesture and find information about the game.
● In the archivist, users will be able to see some of the services around hero pricing in the upcoming weeks.
Q&A:
It was said in a previous AMA that feeding pets wouldn't be a daily occurrence, is the plan for it to be bound by time or by a number of quests completed?
● The plan with it is to be time-based so if a user uses stamina potions they’d be able to more benefit from their pet.
Any idea on how different Level 10 mining would look compared to Level 0 mining?
● Difficult to say exactly, but there will be ~3% increase in the base values, also level 10 quests will allow heroes to increase their mining skill closer to 30. This will increase the number of rewards that can be gained and there are some pet bonuses in place that will also help with rewards.
Is there a plan to change the mining threshold on Crystalvale, which is currently at 5000 locked $JEWEL, with token cap changing?
● There is no change planned as it would only hurt users if it is changed now.
Is there any plan for re-rolling cosmetic genes?
● The plan is to leave them as is.
What are the benefits planned for guilds?
● There will be limits and the team has been talking about tying it with land ownership. The exact limits haven’t been fleshed out at this point. It’s one of the high-priority parts for the team to work on.
Is the team planning a carry limit while traveling or questing? Will there be a backpack mechanic?
● No carrying limits for traveling but with combat there are planned limits for the number of potions the user can hold.
Thoughts on $JEWEL listing on centralized exchange with the new tokenomics structure?
● The team is working on listing on other exchanges. Have had talks with Binance and Coinbase, CEXs will have internal fees or will need to work with the market maker to make sure the liquidity is managed between the native source of $JEWEL and where it’s being listed. Opting out of perpetual contracts will be a point of focus as well.
What are the team’s thoughts on reducing emissions and emitting for longer to remove locked mechanics around the rewards to have lower but more long-term APRs without locked rewards?
● This is a good idea but isn’t necessarily better than the current structure. Implementing them now will be disruptive to everybody’s current allocations and related rewards.
Why is whitelisting currently required in the DFK chain?
● The team wants to make sure everything runs smooth and the user experience is good before launching it to everyone.
Could you share if there will be any Dueling Preseason rewards?
● Yes, some of the metrics on that will be “most duels played”, more to be released about it soon. Will be releasing a proposal for the community to vote on if the airdrop will be implemented.
Comments on Hero floor price warning and not for sale tag?
● Team doesn’t want to make it look like users should list their assets at a certain price, they are looking into various suggestions and will be implementing them.
Will inactive Gen 0’s be pulled back and replaced?
● No, as it’d be the team reclaiming other people’s assets.
Closing Thoughts:
● Serendale will slowly have more and more features turned off until it has completely migrated and shut down on Harmony.
● The team encourages users to bridge over to Crystalvale to make sure their assets are safe and to play and enjoy the game there.
● As DFK relaunches in Klaytn, the team is excited about the future of the project.
